People are continuing to disregard curfew and health related restrictions as 86 arrests made in the last 24 hours

The number of people who continue to breach the restrictions in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is increasing day by day as 86 people were arrested in the last 24 hours for breaching orders.

According to police, 53 people were arrested between Friday and Saturday while 36 people arrested from Thursday into Friday for breaching health restrictions and curfew orders.

There have been worrying cases with many arrests relating to people from different households drinking alcohol and grog together.

Acting Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu says of the 86 people arrested in the last 24 hours, 32 were arrested for curfew breaches while 54 people were arrested for not following the restrictions put in place by the Health Ministry.

25 people were arrested in the Western Division. 11 were arrested for breaching curfew while 14 people were arrested for not complying with the health restrictions.

In the Southern Division, 15 people breached curfew orders while 25 people breached health restrictions.

13 people were arrested in the Eastern Division. 6 breached curfew orders while 7 people were found not complying with the health restrictions.

Tudravu says 8 people were arrested in the Northern Division for not complying with the health restrictions.
