Parliament Speaker Jitoko is the new UniFiji Chancellor

Speaker of Parliament, Filimone Jitoko is the new Chancellor of the University of Fiji.

Jitoko was formally installed this morning during the UniFiji graduation ceremony at the Saweni Campus in Lautoka.

He says that in accordance with the University of Fiji Act, he is committed to faithfully executing his duties and responsibilities as Chancellor, ensuring that all actions taken are in compliance with the university’s statutes and regulations.

The UniFiji Chancellor says he pledges to serve with faith, fairness, wisdom and impartiality, to promote academic excellence, and to support the faculty, staff and students in their pursuit of knowledge, research and service to the community.

He adds that he has undertaken the role with humility, dedication and a steadfast commitment to the principles and values enshrined in the UniFiji Act for the advancement and reputation of the University.
