The Pakistan cricket team were left embarrassed even before the first ball of the Group A Asia Cup encounter against India was bowled as the DJ erred as Tesher and Jason Derulo's ‘Jalebi Baby’ echoed around the Dubai International Stadium instead of their national anthem.
The song was played for roughly six seconds, and it was then that Pakistan's National Anthem was heard.
The encounter between the two teams saw rising tensions at the toss as Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistani captain Salman Ali Agha refused to shake hands and avoid eye contact.
India cruised to a seven-wicket victory after which Yadav and batting partner Shivam Dube immediately left the field rather than shaking hands in the middle, as is the norm.
Afterwards, Pakistan's players appeared to walk towards India's dugout when they left the field but the India players had already returned to the dressing room.
India and Pakistan engaged in a four-day military conflict in April following a deadly militant attack on tourists in India-administered Kashmir.
Pakitani Coach Mike Hesson says obviously, they were ready to shake hands at the end of the game but were disappointed that their opposition didn't do that.
At the post-match presentation, Suryakumar says they stand by with the victims and families of the terror attack and express their solidarity.
The Indian team dedicated the win to the Indian armed forces who showed a lot of bravery.
