Former hotel worker from Labasa, Sunit Prasad.

A former hotel worker from Labasa, Sunit Prasad says he has opted to join the Pacific Labour Scheme because it’s the only way to overcome the financial challenges his family is facing today.

Prasad is amongst the 211 participants that will be leaving the country as part of the Vuvale partnership in employing Fijians in Australia later this month.

He says even though three of his family members are working, they still suffer a lot as they were only given a few hours due to lower number of tourists coming over to the North.

Meanwhile, Semi Ratutagia from Waitovu, Levuka in Ovalau says he aims to provide a better life for his children because he has faced so much while losing his mother when he was a kid.

He says as life is getting tougher in Fiji these days, he is looking forward to owning a house when he comes back after three years of employment in Australia.
