The official logo for the 2017 Conference of Parties 23 or United Nations Climate Change conference at Bonn in Germany was unveiled today by the incoming President of COP 23, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

Ronna Sekiguchi of Greenhouse Studios won the COP 23 Design competition.

She was born in the Philippines and came to Fiji in 2004.

Sekiguchi has been a Fijian citizen since 2010 and in 2014, she founded the Greenhouse Studio, which employs seven people and has created a range of other logos for companies and institutions.

Bainimarama says the logo perfectly captures the vulnerability of Small Island developing states to climate change.

Bainimarama has also thanked Germany for hosting the conference which will cost 155 million Fijian dollars.

He says the COP 23 logo will also be put on a Fiji Airways plane.

Shristy Singh of Adi Cakobau School and Mark Filitoga of Nadi Muslim Primary School were the two runners up in the design competition.
