Prime Minister and iTaukei Land Trust Board Chairman Voreqe Bainimarama has set the record straight that the Government will continue to develop iTaukei land even if there’s no representative from the Vanua on the board.

This is after Naivucini villager and former politician Peceli Rinakama asked Bainimarama in the talanoa session in the Naitasiri Provincial Council meeting on when will he consider having a Naitasiri representative on the iTLTB board.

Rinakama says the last Naitasiri representative to sit on the board was Ratu Solo Buaserau, the chief of Navuakece.

He also elaborated a bible verse from the book of Kings on how kings protected their land.

The Prime Minister then asked Rinakama to put aside the bible verse and tell him what is the reason Naitasiri wants a representative on the board.

Rinakama said that it is important for landowners to be part of every decision made on their land.

Bainimarama responded that he does not understand the motive behind having a Naitasiri representative on the board and asked Rinakama if he has seen the many developments the Prime Minister has done across the country.

The Prime Minister assured the people of Naitasiri that the government will take care of them.
