PM confirms reshuffle of Ministers’ portfolios

Tikoduadua is not being investigated for drug-related activities - PM

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and Minister for Home Affairs, Pio Tikoduadua

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has confirmed that there will be a reshuffle of Ministers’ portfolios.

While speaking to the media at the Grand Pacific Hotel, Rabuka says he feels it is unfair to the people of Fiji and the workers in government departments that he stays up late at night looking at some files.

Rabuka says at the moment, Pio Tikoduadua is the Home Affairs Minister looking after the Army and he is looking after the Police Force and Immigration.

Rabuka also confirms that Tikoduadua just stepped aside so that he is not involved in the investigation.

He also confirms that Tikoduadua is not being investigated for any drug-related activities.

Tikoduadua is being investigated to address a serious matter involving the possible unauthorised issuance of passports to the children of individuals associated with the Grace Road human rights allegations.

According to Tikoduadua, these passports appear to have been issued without his knowledge, without the approval of the Permanent Secretary, and without authorisation from senior management within the Department of Immigration.

He had also assured the people that he will fully cooperate with the investigation and work towards restoring any trust that may have been compromised.
