PM assures Ba landowners their land is safe and urges them to partner with Govt to fully realise land potential

Landowners in the Ba Province have been encouraged to partner with the Government to realize the full cash-generating potential of their land.

While opening the Ba Provincial Council meeting at Sorokoba Village, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama assured the people of Ba that their land is safe under the 2013 Constitution.

He says this is a subject of great deal of fear-mongering and outright falsehoods.

Bainimarama says ownership has remained fully intact and nothing has been taken.

The Prime Minister adds not only have they protected itaukei land, but they are also finding ways to increase its value and ensure the benefits of land leasing are enjoyed equitably by community members including women and the young.

He says the difference between the opponents and his Government, is they do not only want landowners to be resource-rich but cash-rich as well.

Bainimarama highlighted that the Government has spent over $181 million to develop Ba Province from 2014 to 2021.
