Independent Members of Opposition and former Fiji First MPs, Sachida Nand and Shalen Kumar will be sworn in as Assistant Ministers by the President tomorrow.

Nand has been appointed as the Assistant Minister for Public Enterprises and Kumar will be Assistant Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs.

Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka has also reassigned Aliki Bia, the Assistant Minister for Information, as the Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports.

Rabuka says the Assistant Ministers are well experienced and will support the Government’s commitment to multi-ethnic affairs, youth and sports and public enterprises.

Nand was the former CEO of Fiji Cooperative Dairy.

The government also says Kumar brings deep understanding of cultural sensitivities and nuances, and will be able to foster inclusion and social cohesion across Fiji’s multi-ethnic communities.
