Overtime payment for medical imaging technologists and senior pharmacy technicians to continue

Overtime payment for medical imaging technologists and senior pharmacy technicians to continue

Great news as the overtime payment for medical imaging technologists and senior pharmacy technicians will continue.

This is after concerns were raised by the public and medical professionals, questioning the Ministry of Health for the circular that was sent earlier where the overtime pay for medical imaging technologists, senior pharmacy technicians, biomedical technical officers, dental technicians, junior physiotherapists, health inspectors, tobacco control enforcement officers, supervisor dietitians and medical laboratory scientists was going to be ceased starting last Wednesday.

In another circular sent to Medical Superintendents, Divisional Medical Officers and Heads of Cost Centres, the Permanent Secretary for Health, Dr Jemesa Tudravu, says the approval for the extension of overtime payment is only for the positions of medical imaging technologists and senior pharmacy technicians.

He says the Public Service Commission has approved the extension for another 6 months effective from last Wednesday.

Dr Tudravu says the Ministry will continue to work on the strategies to manage the Allied Health Cadres, in particular, to avoid short-term strategies after 6 months.
