Over $32,000 was collected through the Siga kei Luvei Tailevu initiative to support the construction of the Tailevu Youth Hub and provide a source of income for the Tailevu Provincial Youth Council.
General Secretary of the Tailevu Provincial Youth Council, Jekope Raisua, says young people are taking bold steps to secure a safer, stronger future for their community.
As the Tailevu Provincial Youth Council prepares for its Annual General Meeting in March in Nausori, plans and finances will be finalized to turn this dream into reality.
Raisua says for many youths, the lack of safe spaces and support systems has been a barrier to personal growth and well-being.
He adds that during a recent three-day event called Soli kei Luvei Tailevu, young people from across Fiji, including Tailevu, Lautoka, Vanua Levu, the Northland region, and even from Australia gathered to unite, share their challenges, and envision a future with a dedicated youth hub.
He says this centre will offer a safe haven where young people can meet, access support, and connect with social organizations, fostering resilience and leadership.
Raisua says it will not only provide crucial emotional and social support but also generate sustainable income for the council, ensuring long-term community benefits.
He says this initiative is a powerful example of how youth leadership and community collaboration can drive meaningful change, creating hope and opportunity for generations to come.
