Over 20 students with disabilities received $300 back to school packs in assistance from New Vision of Fiji.

New Vision of Fiji, Chief Executive Officer, Rajnel Prasad says the support was launched on the 1st of November, 2022.

He says they did face challenges during this phase but managed to get assistance and a lot of support from business houses, religious groups and individuals.

The assistance pack contains school uniforms, sandals, a school bag and general stationery.

He says they have supported 6 students on wheelchairs and children who are visually impaired.

The board and management will continue to carry out such programs this year with other lined-up programs.

Prasad adds they are waiting for grants to introduce the Economic Empowerment Project to assist visually impaired men and women.

Pranesh Anand, a father of a visually impaired teenager has expressed his gratitude towards New Vision of Fiji and all other people that were involved in getting hard contact lenses and eyeglasses which cost $3,500.

Anand says being the sole breadwinner for his family, it was not possible for him to afford such costly eyeglasses for his son.

He says his son has scored 363/400 in his Year 12 Examination.
