Over 1,800 people are still in evacuation centres

The National Disaster Management Office confirms 54 evacuation centres are still active around the country with 1,848 evacuees.

NDMO Director, Vasiti Soko also confirms that all evacuation centres have been closed in the Central, Eastern and Western Divisions.

Soko says 14 of the 54 evacuation centres active in the Northern Division are schools.

She says the Commissioner Northern is working with stakeholders on the ground to ensure these schools are cleared by the given deadline to be ready for the opening of the new school year on the 18th of this month.
