Over 16 million trees have been planted under the National 30 Million Trees in 15 Years initiative, and it is collectively planted by youths, schools, civil society organizations, church groups, individuals and communities.

While officiating at the International Day of Forests celebration at the Korotari Forestry Station in Wairiki, Minister for Fisheries and Forestry Kalaveti Ravu highlighted the importance of trees and tree planting in maintaining the well-being of the environment, conservation, climate change, socio-economic development, employment, and national development.

He says sustaining forests cannot be achieved by the forestry sector alone, but every Fijian has a role to play in protecting our forests and health.

The Korotari Climate Smart Agriculture was also launched by the Minister to help in transforming the agri-food system towards green and climate-resilient practices.
