Minister for Education Premila Kumar

Minister for Education Premila Kumar says we are truly blessed to live in a multicultural society such as Fiji, and our unity and open heartedness as Fijians plays a huge part in breaking down cultural barriers.

In her Easter message, Kumar says Fiji is unique in how Fijians from different backgrounds come together to celebrate religious festivals from different cultures and faiths.

She says by acknowledging each other through these cultural celebrations, our differences become something that we can celebrate, not something that divides us.

Kumar says Easter is a very important religious festival in the Christian calendar, with Christians celebrating Easter in remembrance of Christ’s ultimate sacrifice and reflecting on the message of forgiveness and compassion.

She says this is a universal and loving message that can be appreciated by Fijians of any faith.

The Minister says it has been a challenging couple of years and she hopes everyone takes a well-deserved break.

She has also urged parents and guardians to watch over their children and not to be complacent when it comes to their safety.

Kumar says the last thing we want to hear about is a child getting badly injured or worse than that.
