Transfusion Medicine Lecturer at the Fiji National University, Adriu Sepeti

The Transfusion Medicine Lecturer at the Fiji National University, Adriu Sepeti says our body needs the vaccine to fight against COVID-19 and prevent us from becoming severely sick or even dying.

Sepeti made the comments while speaking during FNU’s Facebook Live session on Explain the Science of the COVID-19 vaccine in Fiji in the iTaukei language.

He says when a person is vaccinated, their body will respond positively and will eventually fight it off.

Sepeti adds what the vaccine aims to do is for the immune system not to be overwhelmed with the virus when a person contracts it.

He says people will also react differently to the vaccine but there is no case of severe effects of the vaccine in Fiji.
