The food ration packs that are currently being given to people in areas affected by Tropical Cyclone Yasa is enough to last two weeks.

Minister for National Disaster Management Inia Seruiratu says they will give 2 packs per family which will be one adult pack and one child pack.

He says any food provision that will be provided later will be based on the Minister for Agriculture and his team‘s assessment and Seruiratu adds that he has briefed Agriculture Minister Dr. Mahendra Reddy this morning.

Seruiratu adds they look at equal distribution and fairness.

The National Disaster Management Office has sent 10,000 food ration packs and non-food items to assist those that have been severely affected by TC Yasa in the North.

Seruiratu also says people and organizations in Fiji that want to help provide relief supplies should coordinate with the District Officers, Provincial Administrators and Divisional Commissioners.

He adds that people overseas that want to help should coordinate with the NDMO.

Seruiratu has also reminded the people working in providing relief supplies to work within the law.
