Fiji demolishes Great Britain 33-7 to finish top of their pool in the Tokyo Olympics

Team Fiji Men’s 7s team played with a lot of character and kept a solid defence as they outmuscled Great Britain 33-7 in their last pool match in the Tokyo Olympics.

It was a much changed Fiji outfit compared to the performances against Canada and Japan yesterday as they rattled Great Britain till the end and gave them no opportunity to settle in the game.

Fiji also showed good strength at the breakdown area today.

Asaeli Tuivuaka scored the first try in the corner after some good phases following a lineout.

Sireli Maqala scored under the sticks after some great work by Jerry Tuwai as Fiji led 12-0 just in the first few minutes of the game.

Fiji's defence was solid today as they twice stopped Great Britain from progressing in their 22.

Jiuta Wainiqolo shrugged off Dan Norton and ran more than 50 metres to score Fiji's third try.

Fiji led 19-0 at half-time.

Tuivuaka scored an easy try under the sticks after Fiji put Great Britain under immense pressure just at the start of the second half.

Aminiasi Tuimaba scored the last try for Fiji under the sticks to register a handsome win for Fiji. Ben Harris scored Great Britain's only try in the game.

Fiji will play one of the third ranked teams in the quarter finals.

The quarterfinals will start at 8.30pm tonight, the semifinals will be played from 2pm tomorrow while the final will be played at 9pm tomorrow.
