About 90 percent of those between the age of 25 to 64 are overweight or obese.
These are the words of Technical Officer Nutrition and Physical Activity Dr Temo Waqanivalu who is currently participating the three days Pacific NCD Forum in Nadi.
Dr Waqanivalu said heart diseases, cancer, diabetes is the common causes of deaths in the world.
Meanwhile Dr Waqanivalu said the lifestyle and environment aspects need to be taken in when addressing the issue of NCDs in the pacific.
He added that after the revelation that 75 percent of deaths in the pacific is due to NCD the focus should now be on addressing our way of life.
The meeting will focus on building capacity in monitoring and evaluation of NCD interventions; and to provide an opportunity for network building, information sharing and collaboration within Pacific Island Countries.
