A fresh chapter in Oceania futsal history will be written today as debutants Waikato Rapids and seasoned contenders Solomon Islands' Mataks FC clash in a highly anticipated OFC Futsal Men’s Champions League final at 7pm at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
Waikato Rapids are the first team from outside the Solomon Islands or New Caledonia to reach the final, and they will be aiming to win the championship on their first attempt.
Mataks return to the final after narrowly losing 3–4 to New Caledonia's AS PTT in last year’s final, and they are hoping to claim their first title and follow in the footsteps of fellow Solomon Islands team Kooline FC, winners of the inaugural 2019 tournament.
Meanwhile, Suva will play PNG's Gulf Komara for 5th place at 1pm, while AS PTT will face Vanuatu's Southern Legions in the 3rd place play-off at 4pm.
