As thousands of Fijians celebrated Father’s Day today with their families, two dedicated healthcare workers in Naroi Village, Moala, Lau, are facing an immense loss after their station quarters were destroyed by fire last night.

The Ministry of Health has expressed deep sympathy and stands in prayer solidarity with Assistant Health Inspector Ulaiasi and Staff Nurse Litea, who serve at Moala Health Centre.

Minister for Health Doctor Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu has personally reached out to offer encouragement and support to the couple during this difficult time.

According to initial reports, police on the island have yet to determine the cause of the fire.

Fortunately, neither Assistant Health Inspector Ulaiasi, who was in Suva, nor Staff Nurse Litea, who was visiting friends, were present at the time of the incident.

However, none of their belongings could be salvaged.

The Ministry is urging all staff and well-wishers to keep them in their prayers this Father’s Day, as this tragic incident has deeply affected the Moala Health Centre team and the Ministry at large.

For those willing to assist through donations in cash or kind, contributions can be made via M-PAiSA to 9664964, Divisional Health Inspector Eastern, Onisimo Sadranu.

Donors are requested to use the narration "Moala Fire Appeal".
