No water at Sigatoka Hospital and surrounding areas due to heavy rain

Water supply to be restored once flood levels recede - WAF

Sigatoka Hospital and nearby areas are facing water disruptions caused by heavy rains and flooding.

The Water Authority of Fiji says flooding and debris buildup have clogged the intake system at the Matovo Water Treatment Plant, reducing water inflow and impacting supply to several locations.

They say the affected areas include elevated parts of Olosara, Korotogo and its neighbouring areas, parts of Sigatoka Town, Lawaqa area, Kedrakulu and neighbouring areas, Rakirakilevu, Malaqereqere, Mataqe, Yadua and its neighbouring areas, elevated parts of Cuvu back road, Naduri, Nawamagi, Naroro, Malevu Village, Sigatoka Hospital and its neighbouring areas, as well as major hotels and resorts along the coast from Cuvu to Natadola Bay.

WAF urges residents to conserve and store enough water during this disruption period and assures that water carting trucks are on standby to service affected areas.

They say the water supply will be restored progressively, once flood levels recede and the water intake normalizes.
