No injuries have been reported after a pilot and six other passengers were unharmed in the Yasawa Aerodrome incident that took place yesterday.

This has been confirmed in a statement by the Fiji Government, saying that an aircraft involving a GA-8 Airvan, registration DQ-VAN, occurred at the Yasawa Aerodrome.

They say the aircraft departed Nadi Airport at 9:49am and upon landing at Yasawa Aerodrome, it overran the runway and came to a stop just outside the runway strip.

They says the aircraft sustained damage to its nose wheel and propeller.

The runway at Yasawa Aerodrome remains operational, and aviation activities are continuing.

Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka will appoint an investigator to carry out a thorough investigation into this accident in accordance with established procedures and international standards.

The findings of this investigation will guide any necessary measures to enhance safety.
