Acting Solicitor General and Secretary to the Commission, Preetika Prasad

There are no leaks within the Constitutional Offices Commission Secretariat and the Office of the Attorney General.

This has been stated by the Acting Solicitor General and Secretary to the Commission, Preetika Prasad after we questioned her on alleged leaks.

When asked on alleged leaks, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office, Pita Wise referred the questions to the Attorney General’s Office.

fijivillage News has been asking questions since early January after Bainimarama had claimed they had heard reports that personnel from the Prime Minister’s Office allegedly contacted Commissioners from the Constitutional Offices Commission and from the Public Service Commission to tell them to resign because there is a new Government.

Bainimarama had said in early January that these Commissioners weren’t informed that they had the right to stay on, and he then asked why was the Prime Minister’s Office involved in this matter when the Constitutional Offices Commission and Public Service Commission are independent bodies.

The Leader of the Opposition had also said that they were also reliably informed that the Attorney General visited the Chief Justice telling him to advertise various positions that fall under the Judicial Services Commission. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka had earlier said it shows there is divided loyalties when asked about alleged information leaks.

Rabuka had said it will be difficult to investigate allegations that information is being leaked from the Prime Minister’s Office.

fijivillage News is awaiting confirmation on whether any formal investigation is underway to find the source of any leaked confidential information.
