Fiji Rugby Union CEO John O'Connor has confirmed that players who are not vaccinated will not be allowed to play or even train with their teams once local competitions resume in the country.

O'Connor says the response from majority of the unions has been very positive so far and they have been given a deadline to submit the list of players who are vaccinated.

He says most of the teams have given the list however some have requested for more time.

O'Connor says they are currently in discussions with the teams to understand their position and if they will be able to field a team or not.

When questioned on the plans for resuming competitions in the country, O'Connor says they do not have a fixed date yet and this depends on the relaxation of restrictions.

He adds they are also looking at several options regarding the type of competition they can run and all this depends on when restrictions are lifted.

O'Connor says their minimum protocol requires 4 to 5 weeks of training before they can resume.
