It has been stressed by the Permanent Secretary for Health Doctor James Fong that there was no glitch with the careFIJI app in relation to contact tracing for the positive COVID-19 cases at Extra Supermarket.

He says none of those who are running the careFIJI app are aware of any glitch.

Doctor Fong adds what they do know is that with the initial data that came across, they noticed that there was a big number of names on the list.

He says a message went out to everybody involved in the operation based on that and together with a few others, they looked through the list again and realised they could narrow it a bit more so they filtered it down to those that had 2 metres and 15 minutes of contact.

Doctor Fong adds when they were bit more concrete with their messaging, they were able to identify those that counted as a contact and those that did not count as a contact.

The Permanent Secretary for Health says there were close to 700 contacts.

He further says from their perspective, the careFIJI app and the way it does its contact tracing works.

Doctor Fong says most of the contacts are within the Suva Nausori corridor.
