No decision has been made yet by the Education Ministry on whether the re-opening of schools will go ahead next week following the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in all divisions.

The Education Ministry is expected to have further meetings with the Health Ministry and provide an update to the public.

We have sent questions to the Minister for Education Premila Kumar and Permanent Secretary Anjeela Jokhan.

Concerned parents have contacted fijivillage saying they are worried about the safety of their children especially after Permanent Secretary for Health Doctor James Fong said that they are working on the assumption that the Omicron variant is already in Fiji and is being transmitted within the community.

Face to face classes for Early Childhood Education to Year 7 will start from the 10th of January, next year.
