Permanent Secretary for Health, Doctor James Fong is expected to have a press conference today regarding containment of a risk situation at the Suva and Lautoka hospitals.

However, he stresses that there is no community transmission of COVID-19 in Fiji.

He also says the local transmission risk is very low.

Doctor Fong says what people are noticing at the hospitals at the moment are precautionary measures.

We are getting information from Lautoka Hospital that people can go out of the hospital but people are not being allowed into the facility. This is part of the precautionary measure.

Stay with us and please do not follow rumours and misleading reports on social media.

Doctor Fong says all scientific assessments are being done and he will give further information later today.

Health Minister, Doctor Ifereimi Waqainabete says all these are precautionary measures because we have our border quarantine cases.

Stay with us for developments.
