FRU Chief Executive Officer John O'Connor

The Fiji Rugby Union has no plans to hold a Flying Fijians trial match this year like the North vs South between the top Super Rugby New Zealand players over the weekend.

CEO John O’Connor says it is not in their calendar this year.

He says the Skipper Cup Competition finishes on 14th November and by that time Fiji would be playing England in the possible eight-team tournament with Six Nations teams.

O’Connor says if borders clear up and restrictions are lifted, a Flying Fijians trial match could be something they look at next year.

The Fiji Rugby Union says discussions are continuing about the Flying Fijians involvement in an eight-team tournament with Six Nations sides in November this year.

The Flying Fijians are expected to meet England on 14th November, Wales on 21st November and Ireland on 28th November.

Fiji’s last game based on where they finish in the pool would be on 5th December.
