Nine people arrested for drug related crimes in Lakeba

Assistant Commissioner of Police Kasiano Vusonilawe says last month they arrested six people for drug related crimes in Lakeba and earlier this month, three were taken into custody, with the most recent case being yesterday.

ACP Vusonilawe says all the nine have been taken to Suva in a plane with a police escort.

He says they are monitoring the movement of people from Suva to Lakeba and they are working with the Fiji Navy and Immigration to monitor the yachts wanting to berth and attend the function on Lakeba Island.

ACP Vusonilawe says they cannot do it alone and urges the public to report any person involved in illegal activities.

He adds that drugs are destroying our youths who are supposed to be the future of Fiji.

According to the Assistant Commissioner, they have deployed 57 officers in advance to provide security including their uniform branch, CID, Dog Unit and K9 Unit.
