Minister for Education Rosy Akbar.

Minister for Education, Rosy Akbar says they will be launching a new program for students called “Learning Hub” next week.

Akbar says this will be a free learning hub and they will be working with Telecom Fiji Limited where resources will be uploaded and parents and students will be able to access it by their phones and other internet facilities.

Akbar is also calling on parents and grandparents to supervise the school work set aside for children while they remain at their homes.

She says this is not mandatory school work but are just complementary and supplementary educational resources.

The Minister for Education also confirms they have completed 100 percent of rebuilding and rehabilitation works on all TC Winston damaged schools.

She has acknowledged all donors and partners who came on board to ensure the Government is successful in rebuilding the schools.

Akbar says Government spent $230 million in rebuilding these projects.

She says when children return to schools after the COVID-19 situation, they expect all students in the North to be in newly rebuilt or rehabilitated classrooms.
