The extension of the Labasa market will see additional stalls for women market vendors this week.
Labasa Special Administrator Vijay Chand said the new market stalls will cater for the growing number of vendors and provide more investment to the agriculture market.
Chand added the market project has been earmarked to empower women and the council is hoping for an 80 to 90 percent increase in vendors.
Meanwhile, the market’s new extension has been fully funded by the council and will be commissioned by the Divisional Commissioner Northern later this week.
