The 46th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s will be following a new format this year.

Marist Rugby Club President Lawrence Tikaram says teams will not know who they will meet in their second and third matches.

He says the winners of the first games in each pool will play each other and the same will apply for the losers of their second pool match.

Tikaram says the teams will be ranked accordingly and the top 16 teams will meet in the elimination round.

Tikaram says only the top 8 teams will battle it out in the quarterfinals.

He adds they are also waiting on the announcement by the Fiji Rugby Union next week on how many international teams will be part of this tournament.

48 teams will compete in the men's category, 8 teams in the women's category and 12 teams will compete in the Under 21 category.

The Fiji Bitter Marist 7s will be held from the 24th to the 26th of March at the ANZ Stadium.
