Devotees, students, and residents in Olosara can now safely access the Olosara Ram Mandir and surrounding areas, even during heavy rain, thanks to a newly completed crossing funded by the Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs' Community Grant Programme.
The Olosara Ram Mandir Crossing Project was officially commissioned by the Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Charan Jeath Singh who says the project is a symbol of unity, accessibility, and togetherness for the local community.
He highlighted that the new crossing not only ensures safer access during floods but also allows for the movement of heavy vehicles, making it a vital piece of infrastructure for the area.
He says the project reflects how the Coalition Government is delivering meaningful support at the grassroots level by partnering with community-based organisations.
The project was a joint effort between the Ministry, which provided $9,950 worth of materials, and the Olosara Ram Mandir Trust and Committee, which contributed labour for the construction.
The Minister also revealed that 202 community projects were implemented across Fiji in the last financial year, funded through a $1.2 million allocation.
He says that, following that success, the programme’s budget has now been increased to $2 million, with over 750 applications already received this year.
