It was all smiles for the students, teachers and parents of Sarava Sanatan Dharm School in Ba after the opening of their newly rehabilitated classrooms, a canteen, staff-room, computer lab, office and a kindergarten block.

While officiating at the event, the Minister for Education Premila Kumar says this was one of the schools that sustained a lot of damage during TC Winston and was funded by the Fijian Government and supported by the Government of India under the Adopt a School program.

This project cost $977,407.

Kumar says our schools are really old. She says the renewal of school buildings are urgently required which they are focusing on.

The Minister for Education also highlighted that 20 percent of Fiji’s national budget normally goes towards education.

She says if the government is contributing millions every year towards education, they surely want returns on their investment.
