A new Under-18 Vodafone Super Deans champion will be crowned this year after defending champions Queen Victoria School were knocked out by Nasinu Secondary School in the quarter finals at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
QVS, who defeated Nasinu in last year’s final to retain their title, were held to a 20-all draw on Saturday.
Nasinu was awarded the win after scoring the most number of tries.
Of the four semi-finalists, Nasinu and Natabua High School have never lifted the prestigious Deans title, though both have reached the final before.
Nasinu’s only final appearances were in 1988, when they lost 19–17 to RKS, in 2012, when they went down 31–21 to QVS, and again last year..
Natabua last made the final in 2023 but were beaten 24–15 by QVS.
In this year’s U18 semi-finals, RKS will take on Suva Grammar School, while Natabua will face Nasinu Secondary.
The venue for the semi finals was supposed to have been Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, but the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union stated after the games on Saturday that it might be moved to the HFC Bank Stadium.
