Good news for the people of Fiji as the new Sri Sathya Sai Specialist Centre will open tomorrow in Viseisei, Lautoka to provide specialized services.

Sai Medical Services Director Dr Rajat Gyaneshwar says the Centre will offer a range of specialist medical services, delivered free of charge by highly qualified volunteer doctors through the Sai Medical Unit of Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.

He says specialist services will include gastroenterology (already operational), stroke assessment and rehabilitation (in development) and Cardiac assessment services (to follow).

Dr Gyaneshwar says additional services in Paediatrics, Gynaecology, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Neurology, and Physiotherapy are planned as the Centre’s capacity expands.

He says patients will be referred by their own treating doctors in accordance with established referral guidelines.

Dr Gyaneshwar says the Sathya Sai Service Organisation of Fiji has worked for over four decades in partnership with the Ministry of Health, as well as the Sathya Sai International Organisations of Australia and New Zealand, to deliver free medical care across Fiji.

He says over the years, the organisation’s medical teams have provided vital general, specialist, dental and eye care services to rural and remote communities throughout Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.

The Director adds that the mission has also reached outer islands including Ovalau, Gau and Koro, acknowledging also the support from the Ministry of Health, hospitals, schools and local communities.
