The new Nakasi Police Station building in Davuilevu Housing that will house the Eastern Division Headquarters is ready to be opened however the Fiji Police Force is waiting for the Nasinu Town Council to give the Occupancy Certificate.

The current Nakasi Police Station that located at Vishnu Deo Road in Nakasi has been a cause for concern for a number of years as the structure is old and in a dilapidated state.

ACP Administration Meli Sateki says once the Occupancy Certificate is issued, Nakasi Police Station will be relocated there.

He says the new construction includes the station and two separate barracks costing around $35 million.

It will be home to 500 police officers with various units and holding cells for both males and females.

Work on the construction began in 2019.

Eastern Division Headquarters is currently located in Nausori Town.
