Burebasaga Confederacy paramount chief, Na Marama Bale Na Roko Tui Dreketi Ro Teimumu Kepa has urged the RFMF that nothing should happen in the future where the Army will be used to shake our nation.

While speaking on behalf of the GCC after the matanigasau or traditional presentation by the RFMF seeking forgiveness of the GCC, Ro Teimumu says what happened in the past not only affected them, but their children and grandchildren as well.

Ro Teimumu also offered the Council's forgiveness to the RFMF.

She says it is their hope that the military will not be used to demoralize the people as their sole role is to serve and protect this nation.

While presenting the matanigasau, RFMF Commander Major General Jone Kalouniwai says the things that transpired in the past have been a burden to them and they seek the GCC's forgiveness.

He told the members of the GCC that the army in front of them is not what it used to be in the past.

Kalouniwai also urged the GCC to always put the people of Fiji first and serve with gratitude.

Meanwhile, officers from the RFMF gathered in numbers at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks to be part of the matanigasau ceremony.

The matanigasau is to seek forgiveness from the GCC for its role in the 2006 events that led to the dissolution of the GCC.
