Penaia Driu Nawelulu has been found guilty and convicted of one count of manslaughter by Lautoka High Court Judge Aruna Aluthge.

Nawelulu has been sentenced to three years imprisonment, where he will only serve two years with the remaining one year to be suspended for a period of three years.

He has been told that if he re-offends during the period of his three year suspension he will be punished.

It has been said that on 1st May 2019 Nawelulu was out drinking at a nightclub when the deceased bumped into him in the smoking lounge.

Nawelulu warned the deceased who was heavily drunk.

They later met again outside, where Nawelulu thought the deceased was trying to punch him and struck him with his left hand and hit him on the chin, who then fell down sideways to hit the cement.

He later punched him again on the ground before fleeing in a taxi.

The pathologist found extensive hemorrhage in the brain caused by a blunt force trauma which eventually caused the death.
