The villagers of Navunikabi in Namosi continue to resist relocation, despite confirmation from Energy Fiji Limited that no existing settlements or villages will be relocated as a result of any proposed hydro-power project.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Varasiko Koroimara says even with normal rainfall, the village has experienced excessive flooding and has witnessed the significant impact of natural resource destruction.

Koroimara says EFL cannot guarantee that relocation will not be necessary in the future, as the company does not reside in the village and cannot fully understand what the villagers have endured.

He adds the village is located just one kilometre away from the proposed site for the hydro dam construction.
