Navin Raj Shayam appointed as PS for Education

Navin Raj Shayam has been appointed as the Permanent Secretary for Education.

In a statement, Chairman of the Public Service Commission Luke Rokovada says Shayam has extensive experience in Education and has served as Principal and Head of School at Jai Narayan College for 10 years.

Rokovada says Shayam has served in various capacities in teaching and learning and also worked in various capacities in the private and public sectors.

He is currently a member of various Boards and Councils, such as the Fiji National University Council, Fijian Holdings Trustees Ltd, Fijian Holdings Fund Management Ltd and Fiji Television Ltd. Shayam has a degree in Science from the University of the South Pacific and has completed a Master's in Business Administration also at the University of the South Pacific.

He is currently pursuing PhD studies at Monash University in Australia. Shayam will take up his new role in the middle of July 2025.
