The driver who allegedly caused an accident near Verata in Nausori on Saturday morning resulting in the death of a woman and her 1-year-old son remains in Police custody.
It is alleged the driver lost control of the car while overtaking a truck and the car veered off the road and hit a post.
According to Police, the woman died at the scene while the boy was rushed to the Nausori Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead.
Police have also managed to track down and identify the man that took the boy to the Health Centre.
He is the boy’s father.
