Making his village proud is what Swire Shipping Fijian Drua player, Livai Natave, inspires to do when he joins the Drua family for the 2023 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.

The man from Moala Village in Nadi says not many people from his village have donned the white jersey, and what inspired him to keep on trying to make the Drua squad, was the achievements of his fellow villagers.

He says not making the team last year did not deter him from reaching his ultimate goal, which is to make his village proud in the Super Rugby arena.

The 23-year-old was awarded a full-time contract with the Fijian Drua last month.

He started his rugby journey in primary school, where he played in the Kaji Rugby competition. He then joined Queen Victoria School for his secondary education and also took part in the Secondary Schools Deans competition.

Natave was also part of the FRU High-Performance Unit and featured for the Suva Rugby Club in the Skipper competition from 2019 to 2022.

The Fijian Drua’s first Super Rugby match this season is against the Moana Pasifika on the 25th of this month at Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland.
