Nasinu Town Council Special Administrator Chair, Felix Magnus

The Nasinu Town Council currently has around $14 million in unpaid town rates.

Nasinu Town Council Special Administrator Chair, Felix Magnus highlighted this to fijivillage News saying that they have a comprehensive and extensive program that they will be rolling out soon.

Magnus says they have recently set up a Debt Recovery Unit.

He says they will be going house to house to assist ratepayers, to understand them and the difficulties they are going through as well as provide them with a payment plan.

The Special Administrator says hopefully in the next six months they should see a turnaround.

He believes this is due to the lack of collaboration with the stakeholders, businesses and the residents over the years.

Magnus says they have recently launched the Chamber of Commerce with the Deputy Prime Minister, Professor Biman Prasad so they are ready to come onboard.

He adds they are also rolling out the Ward Awareness Programs for the residents.
