No one has been given eviction notices - Perera.

A 59-year-old man from River Road, Narere claims that the Director Housing Ronit Sen has informed them they will have to move out of the area next month however the Permanent Secretary for Housing Sanjeeva Perera says no one has been given an eviction notice in that area.

Sarwada Singh claims Sen has informed them that they will have to move but they will have to incur all the costs and won’t be provided any assistance.

Singh says when they ask Sen on where they will go, he claims they are always given various answers and there is nothing concrete.

Perera says River Road usually experiences flooding during heavy rain and they have identified ten families who have built homes on the reserve areas that are hindering the regular cleaning of drains.

He says they are currently working on relocating these families to an alternate location for the betterment of the majority of the community living in that area.

When questioned on whether the families will have to incur all the costs for this, Perera says discussions are still in progress and he would be in a better position to answer once everything is finalized.
