Pita Gus to start for the Chiefs

Fiji born Pita Gus Sowakula will start for the Chiefs when they take on the Highlanders in the Super Rugby Aotearoa on Saturday.

The Chiefs have also named top players like Damien McKenzie, Brad Weber, Sean Wainui and Anton Lienert-Brown in the starting line-up while Aaron Cruden will be on the bench.

Meanwhile, two players with links to Fiji have been named in the 23 member team for the Highlanders.

Jona Nareki will start on the wing while New Zealand 7s player, Vilimoni Koroi is on the bench.

Highlanders prop Ash Dixon will captain the side with Aaron Smith, Josh Ioane, Sam Gilbert and Mitch Hunt also included in the starting 15.

Super Rugby Aotearoa is a 10-week competition involving New Zealand's five Super Rugby clubs; the Blues, the Chiefs, the Hurricanes, the Crusaders and Highlanders, playing each other in home and away fixtures

The competition was developed with the approval of the New Zealand Government and in consultation with SAMZAAR after the 2020 Super Rugby season was suspended on 15th of March due to the COVID-19 restrictions.

The Highlanders will face the Chiefs at 7.05pm Saturday while the Blues will take on the Hurricanes at 3.35pm Sunday.
