Nadi is the new winner of the Farebrother Sullivan Trophy

Wing, Vilikesa Driu ran past few Namosi defenders to score the winning try as Nadi edged Namosi 22-21 to win the Farebrother Sullivan Challenge Trophy at the ANZ Stadium.

Nadi played more than 20 minutes with 14 men as halfback, Anasa Vuatalevu was red carded in the 56th minute for stomping on a Namosi player.

Nadi’s openside flanker, Vilive Miramira ran 50m to score an intercept try for Nadi in the 14th minute as Nadi led 7-0 after a successful conversion from Sela Toga.

The Westerners led 7-0 till the 38th minute when Namosi got their first try through prop, Aseri Robarobalevu after some good exchanges inside Nadi’s 22.

Both teams were locked 7-7 at half-time.

Nadi started the second half strongly and fullback, Sela Toga got a cut out pass and scored the second try for Nadi in the 43rd minute.

Namosi kept themselves in the game and got a try in the 49th minute when Alivereti Rabukawaqa powered over the try-line.

Namosi took the lead for the first time in the 51st minute when lapse of concentration in the Nadi defence saw Kalaveti Ravouvou touching down the try-line.

Nadi did not look tired playing with 14 men for over 20 minutes and prevailed in the end through Driu’s winning try.

Nadi will now face Tailevu in the next challenge.

52nd minute. Namosi 21-14 Nadi. Alivereti Veitokani successful with the penalty.

51st minute. Namosi 19-14 Nadi. Lapse of concentration in Nadi defence saw Kalaveti Ravouvou scoring a try for Namosi.

50th minute. Nadi 14-14 Namosi. Alivereti Veitoka successful with the conversion.

49th minute. Nadi 14-12 Namosi. Alivereti Rabukawaqa powers his way over Nadi try-line.

44th minute. Nadi 14-7 Namosi. Vatemo Ravouvou successful with the conversion from an acute angle.

43rd minute. Nadi 12-7 Namosi. Fullback, Sela Toga gets a cut out pass and scores the second try for Nadi.

41nd minute. Nadi camping inside Namosi’s 22 and win a penalty. They opt for a scrum 5m away from try-line.

Second half kicks off. Nadi 7-7 Namosi.

39th minute. Nadi 7-7 Namosi. Alivereti Veitokani successful with the conversion.

38th Nadi 7-5 Namosi. Prop, Aseri Robarobalevu gets Namosi first try after some good exchanges inside Nadi’s 22.

35th minute. Nadi 7-0 Namosi. Namosi crossed the try-line but referee disallows try as there was double movement to get the ball over the try-line.

32nd minute. Nadi offside on their 22m line. Namosi get a penalty.

29th minute. Nadi 7-0. Namosi’s Sela Toga unsuccessful with the penalty kick.

28th minute. Nadi get a penalty inside Namosi territory. Discipline letting Namosi down.

20th minute. Nadi 7-0 Namosi. Vilive Miramira powers over the Namosi try-line but try not given as a forward pass was picked up at the half-way mark.

18th minute. Nadi 7-0 Namosi. Alivereti Veitokani can’t convert a penalty.

15th minute Nadi 7-0 Namosi. Nadi’s Sela Toga converts the try.

14th minute Nadi 5-0 Namosi. Openside flanker, Vilive Miramira runs 50m to score an intercept try for Nadi

9th minute Nadi win a penalty at the breakdown.

5th minute Namosi 0-0 Nadi. Nadi’s Vatemo Ravouvou involved with some good exchanges as Nadi now come midway inside Namosi territory.

1st minute Peni Matawalu crosses the try-line for Namosi after some magic from Alivereti Veitokani but try not given as the referee spotted obstruction.

Nadi kick off the first half at the ANZ Stadium.
