Thousands of people from Nakasi will soon be able to enjoy a newly constructed Volleyball Court.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony at J.P Maharaj Road, Nakasi this afternoon, Minister for Youth and Sports, Parveen Bala says Nakasi was identified as one of the heavily populated areas that needed a facility like this.

He says this project is one of many that is being carried out with assistance from the Chinese Embassy.

Bala says the ministry has identified other areas in Nausori and the Western and Northern divisions where new sporting facilities will be built.

The Minister has confirmed that the Chinese Embassy will be providing the funding for these projects.

Bala adds this is being done in line with the government's Wellness Programme.

Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Qian Bo confirms that about $60,000 is being spent on this project in Nakasi.

He says they happy to come forward and assist the youth of Fiji.
