The 33-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his wife to death in Naqara Village, Waima, Naitasiri last Friday has been remanded in custody.

Josevata Werelali Koroi appeared in the Nausori Magistrates Court this afternoon.

He has been charged with one count of murder.

Divisional Prosecuting Officer Eastern, Yasin Ali asked the court for the matter to be transferred to the High Court as it is an indictable offence.

Ali also asked the court for Koroi to be remanded in custody.

The matter has been adjourned to the 18th of this month which will be called in the Suva High Court.

Police say the 28-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed by Koroi following a heated argument.

She was rushed to the Vunidawa Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
